How do robots work, why do we build them, and can they have feelings? The German children’s podcast “Ole schaut hin” devotes a new episode to these questions, with Christoph “Picco” Fröhlich, singer of the band Pelemele.

In the programme, Ole the blue owl answers young listeners’ questions about robotics. The episode covers how robots are made and why they are designed, before turning to the question of whether machines can have feelings.

Julia, Christian and Lorenz want to understand how a robot works. Sarah and Emilian are more interested in how one is built, while Ben wants to know why humans make these machines.

Vincent and Jannes raise a different question: can robots experience feelings? The new episode of “Ole schaut hin” brings these questions together to introduce children to robotics.

Pelemele singer Picco joins the episode

To accompany Ole’s explanations, the programme welcomes Christoph “Picco” Fröhlich, singer of Pelemele, a children’s rock band from Cologne.

Active for 25 years, the band has built a following among children and adults through its songs and concerts. Its appearance on the podcast comes as its musical career draws to a close.

Pelemele will play its final concert on 8 November 2026. This last show will mark the end of 25 years together for the German band.
