Based in Shenzhen, Dobot made its name in collaborative robots, or cobots, before adding a full-size humanoid, the Atom, to its catalogue in March 2025. The company groups this new business under the label “embodied AI”. It still accounts for a small share of revenue, but its growth picked up sharply in the first half of 2026. The humanoid itself is covered in detail on the Dobot Atom page.
Dobot company background: founders, listing and cobots
According to Wikipedia, Dobot was founded in June 2015 in Shenzhen by Liu Peichao and Lang Xulin. Liu Peichao is its founder and chief executive. The company has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the code 2432 since 23 December 2024, a date also given by Wikipedia.
Cobots remain its core business. At the end of June 2025, its press release on the Atom cited “more than 80,000” Dobot cobots deployed. The 2025 annual results report more than 100,000 cobots shipped in total. In spring 2026, the company said its cobots serve more than 80 Fortune Global 500 companies. These figures cover all of its cobots, not its humanoids.
Dobot 2025 revenue: cobots lead, embodied AI starts to grow
Dobot published its 2025 annual results on the evening of 30 March 2026. The 21st Century Business Herald reported them on Eastmoney the next day. Revenue reached RMB 492 million, up 31.7%, and gross margin stood at 46.1%.
The net loss narrowed by 11.9%. Eastmoney puts it at RMB 84.95 million.
Six-axis cobots remain the main driver, with RMB 302 million in sales (+44.66%). Four-axis cobots brought in RMB 92.951 million, or 18.9% of revenue. Embodied AI robots, a category that includes humanoids, accounted for RMB 20.042 million, or 4.1% of revenue, up from 1% in 2024.
Research and development spending totalled RMB 115 million, of which RMB 45.1 million went to embodied AI. The research budget for this business therefore far exceeds the revenue it generates.
In 2025, Dobot launched three humanoid products: DOBOT ATOM and DOBOT ATOM II, both bipedal, and DOBOT ATOM-W, which runs on wheels.
On 2 April 2026, Liu Peichao summed up the commercial trajectory to Yicai Global: “Research was the main market last year, and the next step will be to enter the industrial and commercial markets”. In other words, research was the main outlet in 2025, and the next stage targets industry and commerce. This shift ties in with the issues covered on the humanoid industrial robot page.
Dobot 2026 first-half results: revenue doubles
Unaudited operating data for the first quarter of 2026, reported at the end of June by Économie Référence, put revenue at around RMB 112 million. That was up 111% year on year.
The half-year results, published on 24 August 2026 and reported by Sina Finance and Leiphone, confirm this acceleration. Revenue reached around RMB 320 million. The company and the press report an increase of 106.6%. Gross margin rose to 47.4%. Research and development spending reached around RMB 100 million, up 148.4%.
Embodied AI is operating on a new scale. Its revenue exceeds RMB 45 million, more than 20-fold growth. It accounts for 14.3% of revenue, or “nearly 15%” in some passages. Leiphone reports orders in hand of more than RMB 60 million for this business.
Dobot claims 231 cumulative embodied AI customers, including nearly 100 industrial companies. This is a cumulative total, not a count of active customers. The named customers are the Valeo group, Leapmotor and Keboda, along with an unnamed European cosmetics company from the Fortune Global 500.

Dobot Atom launch, mass production and deliveries
Dobot unveiled the Atom on 18 March 2025. The Standard, a Hong Kong daily, reported a price “starting from” 199,000 yuan at the time. This price applied to the opening of pre-orders in China in March 2025. The paper also reported partnerships with carmakers, electronics factories and coffee and tea chains. The stated goal was trial and mass production “by mid-year”. Dobot shares rose 13.56% that day, to HK$60.70. Yicai Global placed the start of mass production in June 2025.
On 27 June 2025, in Nagoya, Dobot announced the “global mass production and delivery” of the Atom. According to the press release published on 30 June, a first batch was delivered live during the launch event, in partnership with Japanese integrator ASKA Corporation. More than 200 Japanese partners attended the event.
The same release describes the Atom as “the world’s first full-sized humanoid robot combining dexterous manipulation with straight-knee walking”. It highlights the Neuro-Driven System (NDS), which coordinates the arms and legs, and a repeatability of ±0.05 mm. The tasks cited are electronics soldering, precision calibration and cherry picking.
In a business update dated 3 February 2026, reported by Tiger Brokers, Dobot announced the start of production and delivery of the “third batch” of its Atom industrial humanoids. These robots are being deployed in waves on production stations. Quality control is carried out in three stages: inspection of incoming components, assembly, then final tests of dynamic balance and motion accuracy, unit by unit. The release also mentions a vision-language-action model called DOBOT-VLA. The Gasgoo website dates the event to 4 February 2026.

The Chinese daily SFCCN reported 1.53 m, 62 kg and 41 degrees of freedom, with up to 28 in the upper body. Japanese site MONOist gave 165 cm and 65 kg in July 2025. SFCCN also credits straight-knee walking with 42% lower energy consumption than bent-knee walking. The versions are covered in detail on the Dobot Atom page.
Dobot Atom in real-world use
Dobot cites an Atom operating in a Shenzhen cinema. According to a company statement reported by Leiphone, the robot works there 14 hours a day without assistance and sells more than 1,000 cups of popcorn a day.
In Germany, Interesting Engineering reports that Terra Robotics, in Löhne, put an Atom through a hands-on test. Its engineers found the movements stable and repeatable in a structured environment. However, they noted limited abilities for spontaneous decisions, intuitive reactions and on-the-job learning.
The same article notes that virtual reality control only operates the upper body. Dobot says it takes “as little as two hours” to go from a virtual reality demonstration to autonomous execution. The company provides no quantified evidence to back this up.
Dobot Atom price at European retailers
Several European retailers list versions of the Atom. Their prices vary by version: bipedal, wheeled or data-collection torso.
- Unchained Robotics (Germany) offers a 153 cm, 62 kg “Dobot Atom” with a 7 kg payload, 600 mm arms and five-fingered bionic hands. It is listed at €86,000 excl. VAT. A rental is offered from €1,000 per month, with no indication of whether VAT is included.
- Funduino GmbH (Nordhorn, Germany) lists the Atom Max at €76,000.00 incl. VAT, excl. shipping. The wheeled Atom-W is offered at €65,000.00 incl. VAT and the Atom-D at €34,200.01 incl. VAT. All three are marked “Available on order”.
- OpenELAB, based in Shenzhen, sells in the European Union and collects VAT at checkout (DDP terms). The Atom-D EDU is listed at €62,683.90 incl. VAT, against an original list price of €63,725.50. The Atom-W Standard is listed at €71,671.90, against an original list price of €81,218.50, and is out of stock. The Atom-W Education is listed at €93,712.45. Orders ship from China within 5 to 10 working days, excluding processing and customs clearance. European consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal.
According to OpenELAB’s listing, the Atom-D EDU has 16 degrees of freedom and measures around 650 mm, weighing 20 kg without hands. It comes with two dexterous hands, a virtual reality headset and teleoperation software. Its battery and mobile base are sold separately. It is not a walking humanoid. The wheeled Atom-W measures around 1,785 mm and has 20 degrees of freedom excluding the hands.
What we do not know yet
- Atom volumes and customers. Dobot does not publish any number of Atom units produced, delivered or sold, whether for the first, second or third batch. The RMB 20.042 million for 2025 and the more than RMB 45 million for the first half of 2026 cover all of embodied AI, not the Atom alone. Nothing establishes that Valeo, Leapmotor or Keboda bought any Atom units. The Nagoya press release does not present ASKA Corporation as the buyer of the first batch. The Löhne test does not make Terra Robotics an established customer. In August 2026, the tracking site There’s A Robot For That listed the Atom at the “Demoing” stage, with no verified customer.
- Price. The official product page shows no price and directs enquiries to the sales team. There is no official euro price and no 2026 price in China. The 199,000 yuan price remains the one from the March 2025 pre-orders.
- France. No French retailer or distributor has been identified. There is no known delivery date for a customer in France, and no warranty period or after-sales service arrangement specific to the Atom.
- Specifications. Dobot’s product page does not give the height, weight, battery, runtime or payload of the base Atom. It names no SDK and does not specify how open the software is beyond the open-source training framework of the Atom Max. MONOist itself considers its own mention of 1,500 TOPS paired with 256-bit GDDR6 memory doubtful.
