Unitree and D-Robotics have announced an educational package that combines the R1 humanoid robot, the Go2 quadruped and the Sunrise S100 computer. Presented at the Changsha educational equipment fair, it includes 180 lessons for students from primary school to high school.
At the Changsha educational equipment fair, their first joint appearance at the event, Unitree and D-Robotics formalised a partnership on teaching embodied intelligence. The project brings together physical robots, computing platforms and teaching content so that schools can gradually cover perception, decision-making and motion control.
Sunrise S100: perception and robot control on a single chip
At the core of the package, the D-Robotics Sunrise S100 serves as the central computing platform for the Unitree Go2 and R1 robots. Its architecture combines a CPU, a BPU processing unit and an MCU microcontroller in a single system-on-chip (SoC).
According to D-Robotics, this integration makes it possible to coordinate the processing of perception data, decision-making and motion control in real time. The aim is to bring the different stages of the perception, decision and action loop together on one platform.
This architecture differs from educational setups that use separate boards for visual recognition and motor control. By combining these functions, D-Robotics aims to simplify communication between components and make debugging easier.
How students progress from OriginBot and OriginMan to the Go2 and R1
The curriculum is built on two learning levels. Students start with desktop robots before moving on to larger physical machines.
The first stage uses robots such as OriginBot and OriginMan, paired with computing platforms including the RDK X3 and X5. This equipment is used to introduce the principles of programming and robotics.
The second stage brings in the Unitree Go2 and R1 robots for integrated applications. The quadruped and the humanoid become platforms for hands-on exercises in which students apply what they learned on the desktop platforms.
What the school package includes: 15 programmes and 180 lessons
The package announced by the two companies includes 15 thematic programmes totalling 180 lessons, spread across primary school, middle school and high school.
The educational offer covers several complementary components:
- The robotic equipment and computing platforms needed for the teaching activities.
- Course programmes adapted to different school levels.
- Projects that combine teaching with robotics competitions.
- The fitting-out of the learning spaces that will host the activities.
Unitree and D-Robotics also plan 6 courses that combine teaching and competitions. The exercises include a relay between two robots, carrying objects steadily with the Go2 quadruped and a refereeing activity involving the R1 humanoid.
These practical challenges are intended to let teachers assess what students have learned through concrete robotics applications.
Partnership set to expand to the Sunrise S and X ranges
The Changsha announcement marks the start of a deeper partnership between Unitree and D-Robotics. The two companies plan to use the Sunrise S100 as their first shared platform to roll out the educational package.
The partnership is then expected to extend to other products in D-Robotics’ Sunrise S and Sunrise X ranges, with applications planned in education and industry.
