AGIBOT has placed 100 of its X2 humanoid robots in 100 stores run by ASD, a Chinese kitchenware retailer listed in Shenzhen under the code 002403. According to the manufacturer’s press release dated 28 September 2026, the robots work as sales assistants, dealing directly with customers in stores open to the public.

To mark the launch, AGIBOT and ASD ran a three-day livestream from 28 to 30 September 2026, broadcast from stores in Wenling, Shanghai and Wuxi. Each session ran for ten hours straight, from 10am to 8pm, according to the press release, to show the robot at work through a normal trading day.

What the X2 does on the shop floor, and what it leaves to staff

According to AGIBOT, the X2 handles a range of customer-facing tasks: greeting shoppers, asking about their needs, presenting products, recommending utensils and giving directions around the store. It draws on factors such as household size, cooking habits and budget to suggest items and explain their features.

The manufacturer draws a clear line around the robot’s role. Promotions, stock information and completing the purchase remain the job of human sales staff, and the X2 hands over at that point. The press release describes a sample interaction. A family of three walks into an ASD store looking for a wok. The robot asks about the size of the household, how they cook and their budget, which is under 1,000 yuan, then presents a model, explaining its material, its non-stick properties and its suitability for high-heat cooking. When the customers ask about current promotions, the X2 hands over to a sales assistant, who explains the offers and handles the purchase, according to the press release.

Mobility and interaction: what AGIBOT says the X2 can do

AGIBOT says the X2 combines mobility with multimodal interaction to move around a store, talk with customers and provide product information. The manufacturer does not specify how autonomous the interactions shown during the livestream were.

Zhihui Peng, co-founder, president and chief technology officer of AGIBOT, highlights the gap between demonstrations and real-world use: “Retail environments pose a very different challenge from controlled demonstrations. Humanoid robots must interact with a wide variety of customers, respond to a broad range of needs and work alongside store staff throughout the day.” He adds that deploying 100 X2 robots in ASD stores aims to bring humanoids into everyday retail operations “at a meaningful scale”.

A deployment in China, with no word on Europe

According to the press release, the 100 robots are spread across a variety of retail formats: ASD flagship stores, hypermarkets, community events and service hubs.
