At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Chinese manufacturer Unitree offered visitors to its stand an unusual exercise: a mock boxing match against its G1 humanoid robot. A journalist from NeoZone took part and wrote up the experience. It was not a real fight. No punches landed, and the routine was staged to show off the machine’s perception and reaction capabilities.
Unitree G1 size, weight and price
The G1 stands 1.32 metres tall and weighs 35 kilos including its battery, according to details gathered at the show. The journalist describes a compact, dense body that stayed notably stable throughout the exercise. According to the specifications presented, the standard version has 23 degrees of freedom, industrial-grade joints and permanent magnet synchronous motors.
On price, the NeoZone article mentions a starting point of around €12,500 excl. VAT for Europe, depending on configuration. We were unable to check this figure against an official spec sheet. Prices actually seen at retailers are considerably higher: see our comparison of German retailers, where the G1 was listed at between €17,884 and €27,370 in early April 2026.
What the Unitree G1 boxing demo showed
The G1 strung together dodges and small steps without losing its balance, even when the journalist threw a hook with a little too much force. No movement speed figures were given. The exercise was built around perception. Using a depth camera, a 3D LiDAR (a sensor that measures distances with a laser to map its surroundings) and several other sensors, the robot analysed its opponent’s movements in real time. It stepped back or moved forward depending on where its partner stood.
The exercise was therefore more about human-robot interaction than fighting. According to the presentation given on the stand, Unitree wanted to showcase a humanoid able to adapt to the person in front of it, rather than a pre-programmed sequence.
Limits of the boxing demonstration
The G1 is not designed for the ring, and the demonstration does not measure athletic performance. It offers a glimpse of the robot’s responsiveness and stability under trade show conditions, facing a cooperative partner. Readers who want to know more are directed to Unitree’s official website.
